New Skoda Superb 2016: To be launched in India at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016

Czech automaker Skoda revealed the new generation 2016 Skoda Superb at an event in Prague earlier this year. The new model is strengthened by the much publicized Volkswagen MQB platform and it doesn’t just look more appealing than the outgoing version, but is also more spacious and feature-laden. The 2016 Superb is internationally available with five petrol and three diesel engine options and has been getting rave reviews from media and car enthusiasts alike. Now, it seems like Skoda India has started readying itself to launch the third generation Superb in India. The India-debut of the new Skoda Superb 2016 is expected to take place at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016 it was recently seen testing on our country’s public roads. Put together below are the details on the new Skoda Superb 2016 to give you a fair idea about the soon-to-be-launched car.

The 2016 Skoda Superb bears an aggressive look thanks to sharp creases all around the car. The sharp cuts on the bonnet are complimented by two neatly laid out character lines. In line with its new looks, the new Skoda Superb too gets a butterfly grille up front and on either side of it are the Bi-Xenon headlights with Daytime Running Lights. In profile and at the back too, the edgy design continues well. All in all, the new Skoda Superb certainly looks a lot more aggressive, sporty and current than the outgoing model.

The new Skoda Superb is based on Volkswagen group’s MQB platform that also underpins the likes of the new VW Passat and the Audi A4. The new Superb is now 80mm longer in terms of wheelbase than the current generation car but is 75kg lighter. The added space of course means even more interior legroom for rear seat passengers. The new Skoda Superb will also get individual comforts like three way climate control, park assist with a camera and a panoramic sunroof. The Skoda Superb will also get eight airbags as standard.

In terms of engines, the Skoda Superb will get both petrol and diesel engine with both manual and automatic gearbox options. The petrol engine is expected to be a 1.8-litre TSI unit that also does duty in the Skoda Octavia. The diesel will be a 2.0-litre TDI turbocharged engine.
