The Land Rover Discovery Sport petrol model has been launched at INR 56.50 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The 2.2 litre diesel variant was launched in September last year. With the ban of diesel engine above 2,000 cc in effect in Delhi and NCR since December 2015 and which has been now extended to Kerala and is likely to be extended to more places, the company has introduced a petrol model to adapt to the situation.

The diesel model still remains at the top of the range due to its availability in the HSE Luxury trim level. The Land Rover Discovery Sport petrol is available only in the HSE trim level.

The salient features of the Discovery Sport HSE TD4 (diesel) include grille in Atlas finish with Narvik Black surround, fender vents in Atlas finish, tow eye covers in White Silver finish, eight-way driver/passenger power seats in Grained leather, centre console with sliding arm rest, Ivory Morzine headlining, 11-speaker sound system, navigation system and reversing camera and Park Assist – Parallel and Perpendicular.

Under the hood, the Land Rover Discovery Sport petrol’s engine is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit producing 177 kW (237.27 hp) and 340 Nm of torque. It sends power to the wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The SUV would rival the recently launched Mercedes GLC 300 which is priced at Rs. 50.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune) and also comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine good for 245hp.
