Hyundai to offer Grand i10 and Xcent in CNG variants

Hyundai India has introduced CNG kits for the Grand i10 and the Xcent and calls it Dual ECU Dynamic Sequential Technology (DEDST). Hyundai has fitted separate injectors for smoother flow of gas thereby reducing lag. This system also has the option to switch to petrol once the car runs out of gas.

Both these cars will continue with the same 1.2-litre Kappa 2 engine but in a retuned form. The Grand i10 and the Xcent now make peak power of 70 horses and max torque of 100Nm. Both these cars will continue to be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Without saying, the reduction in power and torque has resulted in a bump in the efficiency. Hyundai claims an efficiency of 24 km/kg for the Grand i10.

The Grand i10 and the Xcent CNG will be available in any variant at an additional cost of Rs 68,000. The Grand i10 CNG will start at Rs 5.37 lakh and go right up to Rs 7 lakh. The Xcent CNG on the other hand will range between 5.86 lakh – Rs 8.34 lakh. Hyundai will keep the warranty of the car intact, now that it is officially giving the CNG kits.
