The
Baleno will come with a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine developing 83.1 bhp
and 115 Nm of torque, and a 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine capable of 73.9 bhp
and 190 Nm of torque. The diesel gets a 5-speed manual whereas the petrol is
available with a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.
The
premium hatchback measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,745 mm in width, 1,500 mm in
height and 2,520 mm in wheelbase. It will get a 37 litre fuel tank, and weigh
960 kg with the DDiS engine and 890 kg with the K-Series engine and manual
transmission. Thanks to its all-new platform, the Baleno is lighter than the
Swift, despite being larger.
The
top-end Alpha variant of the Baleno will get Apple CarPlay and ride on 16-inch
alloy wheels, whereas other variants will get 15-inch wheels. However, ABS, EBD
and dual front airbags are standard across all variants. The option of a CVT
will be available on the Delta variant, as reported earlier.
After S-Cross, the Baleno will be the second
product to be sold from Maruti’s NEXA range of outlets. Some outlets have started
accepting bookings for INR 25,000, ahead of a launch reported to
take place on October 26.
