According to reports, the company has planned to increase the prices for the Baleno after this festive season. It was launched in India earlier in the week, with prices ranging from INR 4.99 – 7.01 lakhs for the petrol, and INR 6.16 – 8.11 lakhs for the diesel, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
The premium hatchback will begin to be
exported early next year, with the key markets being Europe and Japan.
The Baleno’s petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine and is capable of 84.3 PS and 115 Nm of torque. It is paired to a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The diesel variant uses a 1.3-liter diesel engine and develops 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

All variants of the Baleno get ABS, EBD and
dual front airbags as standard. On the top-end Alpha variant, the hatchback is
equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights with HID units, a
color TFT screen and a 7-inch touchscreen entertainment system with Apple
CarPlay.
The Maruti Baleno is poised to compete with
the Hyundai Elite I20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
