Ford India has unveiled its iconic car ‘Mustang’
in India and is set to hit showrooms in
Q2 2016. This was confirmed at the
pre-Auto Expo event in Delhi today.
This is the first 2-door model from Ford India for the Indian
market, and will be sold as a niche product to build the company’s image.
Unlike other Ford India’s products, the Mustang will be imported via the CBU route.
The reason why the modern Mustang wasn’t launched in India until
now is its availability only as a left-hand-drive variant. With the new
Mustang, Ford has decided to offer it in right-hand-drive for the
first time, making it accessible to more customers looking to
own Ford’s iconic pony car.
The new Ford Mustang which is only available
in the Mustang GT variant comes equipped with the latest edition of the throaty
5.0 liter V8, now featuring an upgraded valve-train and cylinder heads that
yield more than 420 hp and 520Nm of torque. A new intake manifold improves
low-speed breathing for better fuel economy, idle stability and emissions.
It also features a range of smart
technologies with enhance information, control and connectivity with Ford’s
award winning SYNC connectivity system allowing control of the in-car
entertainment system using voice commands. Premium features like navigation,
push-button start, passive entry, power folding mirrors, and a rear camera are
offered as standard.
