American
car making giant Ford launched their all new Endeavour yesterday, with prices
starting from INR 24.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). This new version is a
total departure from its predecessor, be it in looks, features or almost
anything else. In this article, we give you top 5 reasons to buy this big SUV.
1. Power: Depending on how much of it you want, you can either choose a
2.2 litre, 4 cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that produces 158 bhp or a
larger 3.2 litre, 5 cylinder, turbocharged engine that delivers 197 bhp. You
also get to choose between front wheel drive, all wheel drive and 6 speed
manual/automatic transmissions.
2. Driving dynamics: The Endeavour has been designed to be a proper off-roading
vehicle. Thanks to its massive 18 inch wheels and its high ground clearance of
225mm, this SUV can wade through water that is 800mm in depth. Apart from that,
the driver can also put the Endeavour into normal, snow/mud, sand or rock mode
using the Terrain Management system.
3. Gadgets: The Endeavour is
stuffed full of toys. You get the Sync 2 system with voice control, an
electrically operated tailgate and 3rd row of seats, electronically locking
differentials, low range, a touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic
sunroof, ambient interior illumination, cruise control, a multi information
display; and the coolest feature of all: the semi automatic parallel park
assist.
4. Safety: This is undoubtedly a very important parameter and, as a
result, Ford provides a cocoon of safety for the occupants of an Endeavour in
the form of 7 airbags, lectronic stability program (ESP), traction control, ABS
with EBD, a rear view camera, an engine immobiliser, emergency assist, hill
launch assist and hill descent control, Ford MyKey, rain sensing wipers and
tyre pressure monitoring, amongst others.
5.
Silence! : We mean that quite literally. The new Ford
Endeavour has the quietest passenger cabin of any vehicle in its class. This is
all down to the active noise cancellation feature which uses 3 sensitive
microphones to detect engine noise penetrating the cabin and plays opposing
sound waves to cancel out the noise.
