India has made its entry into the highly competitive compact SUV segment today in India with
the launch of Honda BR-V at Rs. 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

On
the exterior, BR-V exhibits a
large chrome-slat grille, black projector head-lamps, a sturdy bumper, LED light guides, diamond-finished
16-inch alloy wheels, skid plates, plastic body cladding on the wheel arches, and also gets a
ground clearance of 210mm.
On
the safety front, all variants of the Honda BR-V are equipped with dual front
airbags as standard. In addition, all diesel variants get ABS and EBD too,
while on the petrol variants, they are standardized from the S variant.
It
comes loaded with features like automatic climate control, keyless entry with
push button start, steering mounted controls, bluetooth-enabled music system,
steering mounted audio controls, rear AC and faux-leather. The Honda BR-V will also get a
segment-first standard 7-seat configuration, while the second row gets a
recline function.
The
Honda BR-V is being offered
with a choice of two engines (petrol and diesel) and two transmission options.
The petrol variant gets the option of a
6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT with paddle-shifters. The diesel variant of the
crossover is available only with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.5-liter
diesel engine develops 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque, whereas the 1.5-liter
petrol unit makes 119 PS and 145 Nm of torque.
The
Honda BR-V will compete against the likes of the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta,
Maruti S-Cross and Mahindra Scorpio.
