Hyundai Creta gets pricier by Rs. 20,000

Hyundai India has declared that it is increasing the price of its recent launch, the Hyundai Creta, by a minimum of Rs 10,000 with immediate effect. The SUV has a waiting period  of around six months at present with orders standing at over 50,000 units.

The increase in price of the Hyundai Creta by Rs 10,000 is across the 1.4-liter diesel variants. The bigger 1.6-liter diesel variant, however, sees a price increase of Rs 20,000 across its range excluding one trim level. It has always been a normal practice for OEMs to hike the price of newly launched models, as the launch price is always considered as an ‘introductory’ price. Hyundai’s price hike comes right in the middle of the festive season, when usually automobile companies all over the country are trying to attract customers with discounts.

Since its launch on July 21, the Hyundai Creta has done exceptionally well for the company, with sales of 23,181 units by the end of September. Hundai India has increased the production of the vehicle to 7,500 units a month but it seems even this would not be sufficient to meet the increasing demand, as the last two months have witnessed sales of an outstanding 7,437 and 7,320 units.
